Welcome Back!

We hope you’ve had a wonderful, relaxing summer and have been able to re-connect with family and friends that you haven’t seen in a long time. We are excited to get this next school year started and have been busy planning for the return of students in September.

We find ourselves returning to school with many similar protocols in place to keep children safe, while also making changes towards returning to near-normal operations. We’ll also be including a number of new practices we found beneficial after changing the way things were done in the past.

Guiding Documents
Please take some time to read through these two documents. They will answer most of the questions you may have about students returning to school this year.

COVID Screening Checklist
We will again rely on you to ensure the COVID screening checklist is done daily and have someone available to come pick up your child within the hour should any symptoms develop. All parents must fill out the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist Acknowledgement in the Parent Portal by August 31

Pre-existing Medical Conditions
If your child has any pre-existing medical conditions that could be mistaken for COVID symptoms, please indicate them on the Pre-existing Medical Conditions Form in the Parent Portal by August 31

Volunteers & Visitors
A significant element of the school’s success is parental involvement. This year, we are able to welcome parents and volunteers back into the school. We know many of you, especially families new to the school in the past year, are looking forward to being inside of the school. We must also balance this with the need to continue limiting the amount of people in the building, so we want to utilize your time in ways that will meaningfully enhance your child’s school experience.

This year we will be getting back to our core principles of teaching and learning after almost a year and a half of interruptions. We need to be protective of our time and thoughtful about what we do this year. We would ask that if you are planning on coming to the school there is a necessary purpose to your visit. There will be many meaningful opportunities to get involved over the year, including our School Council and Parents Association meetings, hot lunches and various volunteer opportunities within classrooms. If you need to speak to any staff member, please email or call ahead of time to set up an appointment at a suitable time.

When entering the school, please ensure you have successfully completed the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist. You must also wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. If you are feeling unwell or have COVID-19 symptoms, do not enter the school. After entering, sanitize your hands, sign in on the iPad and check in at the office.

Moving Forward Together
Communication between home and school is incredibly important and we will need to work together to ensure a successful year. There are many strong feelings about what is best for our children, and there will likely never be a time when everyone will agree with all decisions that are made, but we will work within the parameters that are given to us to make the best decisions we can. As plans and guidelines are modified over time, we’ll have to be flexible and patient as we navigate those changes.

We can't wait to see everyone on Wednesday!
